A two day event (Fri + Sat)
Camping (pre-party!) starts Thursday. I've heard its pretty wild times!!!
Might have to bring a video camera and make some shirts....
or the yankee in iowa.
as for this event are there rules?> i didnt see any on the page. also locaation how far is it? are there any shows before this date to go test n tune?
Only about 2 hours away.
It's my understanding that you must have a copy of your track's rules and must abide by them.
Not too many tracks have a "pro" class, so some might think us Willyworlders would have a marked advantage... :D

I think I'm gonna bring all my camping shit but make back up reservations at a hotel too.
Leavin for CHILTON and my BIG PRIZE MONIES tomorrow at noon!!!
Whew! A Wild weekend at Chilton for sure.
300+ cars overall, 49 4 cylinders showed for the action. At least 42 of them were Cavaliers or Sunfires...
The Massive 42M Wagon took home second place in the heat race, and second in the feature!!!
Todd Booker handled the driving duties with expertise!!!
GREAT track management, NON Stop action. My applause.
Cool facility too.
REAL CLAY track meant more consistent conditions, less dust, and more traction, well as long as you bank for the essentially pavement like conditions once it gets glossy.

How many Wilmot guys made it out there and how did they finish compared to the locals???
Evan also went up. He finished first in the heat and third in the feature, so an EXCELLENT showing from the Wilmot boys!
I know Pat Rossman (SS season champion) came down as well, but had some mechanical issues.
Jason Hyerdall came. Joel Crowbridge came.
Track was SUPER tacky and fast the first day, but towards the end of the second day it got very glossy and slippery.
you guys were so fast in the heat. how didnt you win the feature just because of the track conditions?
Yeah. It was fuckin crazy slick.
We still had the snows on there. I was looking at some other cars in staging, those guys were running basically a bald/shaved street tire...
Shoulda run the hoosiers but we were worried about contact. Which in the feature, there was ALOT of. 20 cars. Small trakc.
Hard track to pass on. Pretty much had to go high unless you got lucky and someone went a little wide. Pretty narrow. Pretty much turning the whole time. makes you appreciate how large Wilmot is in both length and lane width. But it makes me soooo jealous of that surface. Chilton was legit clay, wilmot looks like potting soil in comparison.
So many cavaliers it was insane.
I'll never look at a J body and not recall the vast oceans of them.
I perused a few local track rules.
141 and Luxemburg are OK with 16V and DOHC, but both require a 100lb penalty each. Variable cam timing is banned. Oshkosh speedzone bans dohc and variable cam timing.
I would still think there would be tons of people with single cam hondas. Regardless of the 16 valve, the civic has to be alot lighter than a J body, and of course there's gobs of suspension trickery that's well documented and easy on the hondas...
Single cam neons too. Or escorts.
I thnk I saw one escort, 1 mx-6, 2 neons and maybe 2 probes.
The racing was pretty clean. The track was handing out black flags like candy, so overt violations just werent acceptable. But when it came to feature time there was ALOT of little shots. The wagon probably traded paint with more cars there in the feature alone than the all of the race at wilmot in 2011.
But the cars were all really pretty beat up appearance wise. Everyone was in the habit of standing on any/all parts of their race cars to get a view. Hoods, roofs and trunk lids were all caved in.
They def had some serious chassis setup figured out though, they had TONS of positive camber in the drivers side and alot of negative on pass side. Didnt see too many people running rear steer.
i cant believe tracks are still stuck on banning "dohc" engines. jesus. its not 1940 anymore.
i could see the suspension working pretty well on that jbody that got 3rd. its just totally different surface. no way they could get away with that at wilmot. just to rough.
From ROL
With the highest division car count of 48 competitors, the 4-cylinders battled through five heat races and three B-Mains to qualify the top 20 into the A-Main. Heat winner Justin Vannieuwenhover of Madison charged into the lead for the first two laps with Todd Booker of Lake Geneva chasing him down. In lap three, Booker and heat winner Stevie LeMay of Milwaukee both passed Vannieuwenhover to take over the top spots. Vannieuwenhover charged back and retook the lead in lap five. Calvin Stueck of Clintonville made his move in lap eight to move into second and begin pressuring for the lead but Vannieuwenhover held him off until a caution flag restarted the field in lap 14. When the green flag flew, LeMay made his charge and took over the top spot with Booker following him into second and Ben Van Wyk of Waldo moving into third. In the final five laps, heat winner Evan Townsend of Elkhorn and Ralph Liegeois Jr. of Oconto moved into the top five. At the checkered flag, LeMay charged through to win the A-Main followed by Booker, Townsend, Van Wyk and Liegeois. The Behling Racing Equipment Hard Charger was awarded to Jason Fairbank of Van Dyne after starting eighteenth and finishing sixth.Read Original at: http://racingonline.com/article/260911/chilton-fall-invitational-return-chilton#ixzz1ZALZSLXQ
