Update on Invincible II(a?)

Hi All:
Crashing the Lotish 15 last fall with 7 miles on it put a pretty dark cloud on the project. Christmas week I took it to the shop that made my original A-Arms, planning to have them make a replacement set from the original jigs, and put it on a table to see if I tweaked the frame. I was next in line after a Lola Formula 5000 tub. I had also asked them to form up a few of the complicated remaining AL panels to finish up the bodywork.
Disaster strikes again. When I was shaking the car down in the fall, I had the engine in & out a few times making adjustments. As such, I used water instead of coolant. Fine when the car is stored indoors. Not so much when you put it in a trailer over-night in sub zero temps. Likely damage to the engine & AL rad, possibly damage to the electric water pump. (What's the use in being stupid if you don't show people?)
Flash forward several months...
After monthly e-mails asking for progress reports, I stopped in in March to see the car. No progress. The Lola however was just about done.
Flash forward several months...
Stopped in again in May, and my car had been pushed to the farthest corner of the shop. The Lola was gone and 3 other cars were under way. Since there was no upside to blowing a gasket, I took the broken a-arms & jig with me, and left.
I have since gotten the broken chrome moly a-arms repaired &
re-welded. I plan to re-assemble the suspension and pull it out of there this
weekend.
Then I can autopsy the engine & cooling system and move on to finishing up the bodywork & paint.
In the mean time, we have built a LeMons car to take my mind off of my run of bad decisions & their consequences. That is progressing well. Watch for the "James Bondo TR-007" at the Gingerman & Autobahn LeMons races this summer.
Looking good! Those rims are a bit to "big baller" for a Chumper/Lemon though, ;)
Hi Guys:
Those were the cheapest rims/tires at Tire Rack. ~$800 delivered.
Took the James Bondo TR-007 to a MC drivers school at Blackhawk last weekend. Handled good, but the cyl head gasket let go in the first session.
Pulled a thrash all day Sun, + Mon & Tues evenings, and swapped an engine from another car. Now we are ready to take it to Gingerman for the big event.
Check out the license plate!
So you had another triumph dolomite just layin around???
Rims look kewl on the car imo.
Love the plate.
your not suggesting the car weighs 778 pounds are you????
no friggin way.
Maybe thats the purchase price.
Which after converting to dollars means you paid about 700 lbs too much!!!
Those were some plates I had laying around, no significance.
Wish I had a Dolomite (16 valve head, 150HP), instead I knew a guy I sold a TR7 to a few years back & I am a smooth talker.
Unfortunately, we blew a head gasket on that one during the LeMons race....
After a year of hand wringing & false starts, my Duratec powered Lotus 15 replica is once again straight, and ready to be painted & reassembled. Gotta find a replacement steering rack & tie rods (the pranged one is a narrowed MG unit)
