2-3 April 2011
Basically two 7 hour races on 2 consecutive days. $500 MAX investment on race cars.
But check this out for 2011:
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
For ALL ChumpCar events through 31 December 2011: The “TRY BEFORE YOUR
BUY” (or build) exception class.
Hey! All you SCCA, NASA , IMCA and other sanctioned club-based racers! Have you
got a “crap-can compatible” car? Want to run some SERIOUS track time? Interested
in having a great time on some great tracks? Effective immediately and through the
rest of the year (this program ends 31 December 2011) you’re welcome and
encouraged to try the ChumpCar World Series as an alternative or second series with
your current race car. ChumpCar wants you to try racing with us… and if you agree
that it’s some of the best racing and most fun you’ve ever had, then we expect you P.O. Box 1541 Morgan Hill, CA 95038 www.chumpcar.com info@chumpcar.com
build a real ChumpCar and join us! This offer only allows a car to run with us for 2010,
and just for fun!
“Crap-can compatible” cars shall be designated “Exception Class” or “EC” cars.
ChumpCar will allow the following “Exception Class” (EC) of existing, class-legal race
cars to compete in sanctioned ChumpCar events:
SCCA-NASA ITS, ITA, ITB, ITC
SCCA-NASA Spec E30, Spec 944 and Spec Miata
IMCA Sport Compact or Hobby Stock competition cars (sedans)
All “Exception Class” cars must meet their current 2010 approved club-based
safety and general competition rules. No modification of “Exception Class” cars is
required to meet or conform to any ChumpCar rule EXCEPT:
All side glass must be fully taped with sturdy, clear packaging tape
All external mirror glass must be fully taped with sturdy, clear packaging tape
EC-cars must race on class-legal tires (no trick substitution stuff)
All competing cars MUST ADHERE TO ALL CHUMPCAR FUELING AND PITPADDOCK RULES.
EC cars shall not be eligible for prize monies issued by ChumpCar but will be awarded
separate trophies.
All cars must undergo a thorough safety inspection and technical inspection.
”Exception Class” cars may or may not utilize AMB Trans260X transponders (your call;
however, we won’t be able to tell you any laps times if you don’t have or rent one).
EC teams must be organized and licensed in accordance with all ChumpCar rules
(minimum 4 drivers, age restrictions, ChumpCar license required, etc.). If in doubt,
read the rules.
ChumpCar will NOT impose any technical penalties on any EC car. Penalties for poor
driving or on-track incidents may be levied… but your car will not be penalized or DQ’d.
(We want you to have a great time. Keep your nose clean and you will.) However, if
any team tries to slide-in an “EC” race car, claiming that it’s a "crap-can racer," BE
ADVISED that ChumpCar will treat that car as a full ChumpCar, participating under
ChumpCar rules… meaning that the car will be disqualified… probably 5 minutes after
the green flag. That way, we have your money and you get zero track time. (Want to
run that ITA or Spec Miata as a race car-in-sheep’s-clothing? Go ahead… try it. )
I'd say with a few changes a 2010 Wilmot car miiiight just pass based on IMCA rules with their EC allowance.
no snow tires..i wonder why?
Most of them IMCA tracks are paved bone head.
No idea if thats true or not...
imca tracks are most dirt mike honcho. there modifieds and street stocks most competitive racing around northern iowa wilmot used to run imca mods
So who wants to build a CHUMP car?
My boy Matt from the ISS series says they will have a provisional class for cars that qualify in his racing series... Enduro rules.

karl its a seven hour race for 2 days. i may have an idea. this guy i know has a civic eg that the vtec doesnt seem to kick on and its kind off a pile...
Kind of a pile???????????????????????????????????????????????
I think it could be fun tho... Civic would work pretty well. Might have to change a few things.
I dont know man...
I just looked at some event photos from a Chumpcar race...
Thought maybe the civ might fit better in their regular chump class, not the provisional "EC" class.
Think again.
It's supposed to a $500 car...
3 series e36 bimmers, miatas, a 300ZX, sn95 mustang, 240z, 944 porsche, gsr teg, no fuckin way these cars are 500 dollar cars...
500 is supposed to be a low street value of the car PLUS an assigned value on any non permitted mods...

Look at this guys albums...
http://www.facebook.com/richard.newton1#!/album.php?id=584635399&aid=333885 for the Roebling Road event...
Def would need to stick to the EC class.
u knowhat i mean. dude those cars where not 5 bills 4 sure!!! i do know a guy that can get me cars cheap ill pm you the info. right from wisconsin like a del sol or integras for less than 5oo
karl i figured out 1 reason that vtec may not of worked. the oil pressure sender for vtec was not grounded. and yes i fixed it.

I have to go to the hospital to see a friend after work so wont be back til 7:30ish Im guessing.
I have the trans here. So either wait for me and do other items, or someone can come grab it.
A few progress pics. For those that dont know, we will be campaigning the Massive Speed 42 Civic (Lucy) with the ISS Race Series at the Chump Car event this coming weekend at Road America.
In order to comply with the more stringent Chump regs, the cage had to be expanded with a halo, down bars, dash bar and some additional drivers side door bars. Since there was already a diagonal forward kicker, the X brace style was a natural fit. We added some taco gussets for greater strength.
To offset this, we did some weight removal. We also performed some much needed maintenance in the way of a ball joint, tie rod end, axle shaft, rad, etc to get her in operable condition.
A few pics:
Looks like most of the snow has cleared!!!
