Payout for first in the "small cars" class is $500...  75 laps.  Hmmmm...

Rule book here :
http://www.midwestenduro.com/pages/rules/rulebook.pdf

I'd say most all of the Wilmot car would generally fit in.  They do want a factory driver's side interior door panel....  Not sure why.  Prob as a safety thing, but if your car has door bars, I'd say they ought to let that slide.

Or build another car.  No cage is required.

We dont have to fit up to there rules, they are letting us run with them because they are at our track, but the only issue with running that race is they may put our feature (for points) after their main event, and they drive pretty rough, so if your car gets damaged in that race, you got nothing to race for something that counts in points, but i dont konw its up to you.

I'd recommend just sitting the enduro out. Like Crystal said, if something happens you're screwed for the actual points race. Also, it's rough driving that many laps nearly non-stop. The only time they stop an enduro is for safety, if you lose a wheel or if you break down with driver's door exposed to traffic. That's about it. I'm going to be there hopefully, but I'll be in the stands. If I do show up I'm bringing my camera with a ton of batteries!

Yeah...  I dunno.  I'd like to try it out.  Only if there was a lower car count tho.  If there's 50 cars I'm sure it would just be mayhem.

I started looking around at $1-200 cars on CL and fleabay...  Maybe just gut a pile and try it.

If you can find a cheap enough pile do it. Last year it was pretty clean racing, aside from the non-stop dust cloud after the first half or so of the race. It'd be fun to turn some laps in it but not with your points race car. Let us know if you do end up running a car in the enduro so I can hopefully get some pics of it

July 24 Wilmot Enduro Special Only Days Away

Waterford, WI, July 21 – The Wilmot Raceway will be host to a full race program including two enduro race events on Saturday July 24. The “95 WIIL ROCK / Ralph Fogel Memorial 150” is the main event featuring the Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series complete 150 laps on the 1/3 mile clay oval. The “95 WIIL ROCK / Ralph Fogel Memorial 75” will feature a 75-lap contest for the Midwest Enduro Small Car and V-6 Series. The awards presented for the Enduro events are funded by Don Lunsford of Lunsford Racing. Promotions for the event(s) are provided by 95 WIIL Rock – 95 .1 FM of Pleasant Prairie. Contributing sponsors include Roz Auto Salvage and Eagle Media, Inc.

The Wilmot Raceway “Fearless Four” and “Street Stock” divisions will also compete in heat race and feature events during the evening. The awards presented to the Wilmot divisions are sponsored by Luisa's Pizza located on Hwy. 50 and 317th Ave. in Wheatland & Hawg Heaven located on Cty. Road SA & Highway 83 in Salem. Erik Grosch leads the current “Fearless Four” points over Crystal O’Gorman and Jason Condrad leads the “Street Stock” division over Tommy Homan respectively.

The Vintage IRA will have a few cars on display for race fans to view. The most memorable will be the #A3 Sedan driven to 4 IRA Championship from 1970-1973 in the Freddie Nielsen stable. Whitey Harris drove it in ‘70 and ‘73, and Johnny Reimer in ‘71 and ‘72. The car is currently owned by Johnny's nephew MJ Both. The other car is the #60 Indy roadster super modified driven by Pop Kline. Pop won the very first race on the newly constructed 1/3 mile track at Wilmot in 1973. This car was found as a heavily altered bare frame last competing at Wilmot in 1984.  Stacks of pictures collected were to recreate this piece of Wilmot history. The car is owned and recreated by Pop's grandson Dan Erikson and great grandsons Devin David and Donavin Erikson.  Because of the large photo collections found, Dan went on to create the Vintage IRA Website. Two other possible cars would be the #43 Ron Bergsma modified owned by Vince Schiavone. The #16 formerly driven and stored since 1974 with Wilmot mud still attached is Allen Kautz's former ride.  Al shows the car with the VMSC vintage club and races it with the MSC club on occasion throughout the summer.

Prior to the enduro race events, a special tribute will take place in honor of veteran Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series driver Ralph Fogel who passed away late in 2009. Fogel had not raced in many years with the Series but in his prime was a top competitor. Fogel assisted many enduro drivers through the years with his knowledge in frame straightening and bodywork. Fogel’s son Mark is the current Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series point leader winning three events for the season in as many tries. Following Fogel in the current point standings are Tom Ruh, Mike Watson, Darryl Traber and Erich Iversen Jr. A special pre-race party will take place for the drivers and crews only in the pit area of Mark Fogel from 3:30 until 5:00.

The current point leader in the Midwest Enduro Small Car Series is Mark Johler. Johler has performed the same feat as Fogel winning the first three events of the 2010 campaign. Following Johler is Dan Chapman, Jason Jarvis, Leo Bujak and Al Bartels.

The current point leader in the Midwest Enduro V-6 Series is the team of Keith Kunze and Al Cottrell. The team has also collected all of the wins in the three events of the 2010 campaign. Following Kunze and Cottrell is Brad Nelson, Michael Peters, Adam Cashmore and Tim Goulet.

A slight change will take place to the original schedule because some of the “Fearless Four” drivers will also compete in the “Small Car & V-6” enduro. Racing will begin at 6:30 with the “Fearless Four” and “Street Stock” heat races. The “Fearless Four” feature will start at 7:00 followed by a special tribute to Ralph Fogel at 7:15, the “Street Stock” feature event at 7:30, the running of the “95 WIIL ROCK /Ralph Fogel Memorial 75” 75 lap enduro event for the Midwest Enduro Small Car (4-cyl.) and V-6 Series cars at 8:00 and the main event will take place at 8:30 with the running of the “95 WIIL ROCK/ Ralph Fogel Memorial 150” 150 lap enduro for the Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series (V-8).  Pit gate opens at 3:00, Grandstand at 5:00, scorers / drivers meeting at 5:55.

I'm still undecided about the enduro. I certainly didnt get a chance to build another car...  Didnt get the Honda going.  And really still have a few things left to do to the Focus.  I'd hate to abuse my baby out there, but 75 laps would be a great driving educational experience even if I'm not competitive.  Alot will depend on how large the field it I suppose.

And where the frig are my $2 off coupons???  Who do you have to blow over there to get some freakin $2 off tickets!??!?!?

your focus has to run right first before you abuse it for 75 laps. plus there is alot of contact in enduro races. your car is so pretty!!

I got the coupon because I ran the Enduro last year at Wreckford. There was a lot of contact, and that was asphalt. I wouldn't run the Focus simply for the contact reason. No sense trashing the nice body work! As educational as it may be to run that many laps I personally wouldn't want to run my car even if I were racing the regular feature. Sure, it's turning laps, but at the same time the risk of something major happening as a result of some numbnuts driving into you just isn't worth it. Though since I'm not in the points race this year I'm starting to contemplate running my Civic with a for sale sign in the Enduro. Once I talk to my wife I won't be thinking that anymore!!!
