Kdogg suggested I put up some pics after my 18 or so laps at Rockford when I ran my Shadow last year. So here they are... The one pic is of Corina with hair, working on the teardown with me. This was 9/7/08 I think when we started tearing it apart. Corina was diagnosed in February of 2009 so it's a good thing we got all this work done beforehand. Anywho, a few pics of the car before we pulled everything off. Note the custom brake/turn/tail lights. Ah, the hours it took to make those. And then I used them on the car for 3 hours. Not entirely worth it. So these are what the car looked like before I took it to Rockford for the enduro race.

She was a beauty, kind of. At least she had straight body panels. After about 15 or so laps I had to stop before hitting a car that was spun out. The result, I got hit from behind from some dude going 60+. Now, it may not LOOK bad, but it was HOURS of straightening and working on the body, and after that hit it had a slight engine noise. Turned out that slight engine noise quickly escalated to a full blown rod knock. But I'm jumping the gun. These are just the aftermath of the race at Rockford.

With the help of Don Collins, the body came back together. We removed the bumpers, straightened out the body, and riveted a bunch of custom cut sheet metal (from household appliances no less) to the car. While it may not look perfect, we did pull the rear end out about 4 or 5 inches. Also, the spoiler made it faster. Or something. This is how it looked at the test + tune at Wilmot last year. During the first race the next week the motor went. One of the connecting rods became a 3 piece connecting rod, with the middle piece making its way out of the engine and into the world via oil pan. If I can find a pic of said carnage I'll post it, but right now I'm running about 30 minutes later than I wanted to so I gotta fly. Oh, the one picture was my ignition sequence, with the starter being the far right switch. The key was needed to unlock the steering wheel and that was it. The switch itself died so I had to wire in toggles using extension cord due to lack of extra wire. Fun stuff.

And yes, the car did have working heat if you were interested. However, the windshield defroster for some reason never got rid of the mud on the screen. Needed a higher powered fan for that!

She wouldn't have had anything for Team Massive, but she was a fun car to at least get on the dirt with. I'd say she rests in pieces now, but being a year since leaving her at Pick N Pull, I'm sure she's been melted down and reused already.
