Forum and "access" changes

There have been some exciting new developments in the last few days with this sites host, Lefora. If you will notice on the blue tool bar at the top of the page, there is an "Off-Topic" section. This is a "global" off topic - meaning it's a section that ALL Lefora forum users can communicate - so literally thousands of other forums like this one have this shared section. Very innovative, guys!!! Cool!!! Check it out when you get a chance.
Also, you may have noticed that the "Adult" section has now become restricted access. As much as I love me some adult topics, truth is there are some litiguous sons-a-bitches out there, and to the letter of the law some of the content there could have been viewed by underage people, and that is illegal. I have enough legal battles as it is, so this in now available only to those who have requested access to it.
That said, we can also now create any numbers of forums that are accessible to:
1. Public. Anyone can see.
3. Members only. A non logged in individual can not see it. Previous to this, anyone could see anything on this site, member or not (public, as above).
3. Privileged Members only. You'll have to request this status, but once you've got it, you would be allowed to view certain forums that we have deemed more "private" in nature.
4. Staff only. Mods and Admins.
While all in all this does get away from my "wild west" anything goes mantra, I had long pondered the notion of a more private section/sections from a legality standpoint.
Looking forward to new growth in 2010!!! I feel that once the snow starts to clear this spring and racing/modding is back in full swing, we will have one hell of a year!!!
:)
There is also a "Games" link at the top of the page, but I can't say I've tried any yet... Worth looking at though.
Karl, we'll see how these changes work out. Right now, my browser (Safari, version 4.0.4 (4531.21.10), on Mac OSX) is having some trouble with a script underlying the pages of the site. So you can pass it along to the lefora webheads, here's an example of what I'm getting on every page load, such as this page:
"Slow Script. Safari is no longer responding because of a script on the webpage "Forum and "access" changes" (http://www.massivespeedforums.com/2010/02/09/forum-and-access-changes/). Do you want to stop running the script, or let it continue?"
I have to click on a button to tell Safari to stop running the script before the page will load. Never had that problem before on the site. Oh, and I notice avatar pics aren't loading; neither yours or mine showed up on this page after several attempts to reload the page.
Follow-up: I reloaded my avatar pic into my profile and saved. Now can see Karl's pic as well as mine, and the "slow script" message has stopped showing up on every page load. That's a weird one! Maybe the info will help the webmasters at lefora fine tune their scripts, though.
i only get the last 2 letters of the screen name so that may be another issue.
