Internet Security 2010 MALWARE

Finally recovered from Internet Security 2010 Malware attack. NASTY!!! If you suddenly see a warning that your computer is infected with a virus and you need to download "Internet Security 2010", you've been infected. Immediately disconnect from the Intenet. This baby sucks Trojans and Worms over time to eventually totally disable your computer. The invitation to download Internet Security 2010 Anti-Virus software demands $49.95 and is totally bogus. We didn't act fast enough and our PC was totally corrupted and although we tried, unfixable. We were running industrial strength AVG anti-virus software and it didn't recognize the problem at all. The only software that recognized the attack was PC Tools "PC Doctor" but it was apparently too late to repair the ungodly number of trojans and worms. The eventual solution was a reformat and re-installation of Windows XP. If you see this infection on your computer, I'd advise you to shut it down immediately. Load PC Doctor onto a disc on another computer then run it on the infected computer.

Good advice here folks...  Sadly it was my pc that took the brunt of this "educational experience".  Had to format the drive.  Lost ALOT of stuff.

Thanx for taking the wheel and figuring this one out, dad!

In the aftermath of Internet Security 2010 Malware attack another goofy but difficult to cure problem surfaced. Got all the computers working on our simple peer to peer network but even though the hard drives are "Shared" one computer wouldn't allow the others to open it's drive. That computer had no problem opening others, but when other's tried to open it's hard drive the message "Not enough server storage is available to complete transaction". After 3 days os searching we found a Microsoft Support bulletin http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;177078 describing a fix that worked. I really had no knowledge of the Registry IRPStackSize value, but I do NOW!

That bites, guys. One of the reasons I run a Mac is to minimize exposure to PC malware. I know what it is like to clean up a PC's registry hack, though, so I feel for ya!

But you can't right click with a MAC!

(I'm just kidding I have a PC for work and I use a Macbook Pro for all of my personal stuff and I will never go back. Especially after having to get all my IT certs and learning how shitty Microsoft OS's really are.)
