So, I thought itd be a good idea if everyone chimed in and introduced themselves. Not only that, but maybe tell us what you drive, what kind of racing youre into, etc...

My names Karl. I currently drive a 92 s-10 and a 95 Sanoma. Probably two of the crappiest cars Ive ever owned, but... Im really into drag racing. Ive probably been down the strip a few hundred times. Ive autocrossed before, and next year I'll be behind the wheel in our new circle track car. Cant wait.

Ok, what the hell...

My name's Jake, I drive a 97 Grand Prix (non supercharged) and I'm into dirt track racing. Ran Wilmot with my #04 '90 Civic in 09, and plan on running again in 2010.

Ok, when I said I drive a 97 Grand Prix, that was before. Now, it's dead. So, I got the race car and my tow vehicle, a 2002 Blazer.

Hi, I'm Christine. I'm getting underway with modding my '09 SES sedan. I've currently got Massive's front and rear strut tower braces in. FRPP's drop and FSWerks' lower front stress bar are going in later this month. Don't plan on doing much with the engine, as it's a PZEV, so I'm concentrating on improving what the Focus does best–handling!

Why not mod it because it's a PZEV?

Because it's there? wink I wasn't planning on getting a PZEV, but that's what I wound up with in order to get the 5-speed I really wanted [read: wasn't going to buy unless it had one].

I don't worry too much about modding the engine and then dealing with getting everything right so it'll pass our smog checks, since it's fast enough for what I need. (I've got a motorcycle for when I want quicker and faster.) But I travel a lot and haul camera and camping gear and a friend or two, and what my car must do for me is handle well in the mountains and help me put in 500-800 miles in a day. (Your strut tower braces are working well, BTW.)

I just wasnt sure if you were eluding to the PZEV being harder to mod or something.  Only real functional differences were the air filter, an extra PCV line, an extra cat and a slightly different tune.  All of which could be reversed/dealt with easily.

Are you required to keep it in this trim for your local regulations?

I live in one of the five counties in Washington where you have to pass bi-annual smog checks at state Department of Ecology test stations. Our smog standards are a bit above PZEV levels, but there isn't much wiggle room, so you have to be discerning in your mods to stay within limits. Given the hassles, I might be willing someday to consider CARB-exempt mods, but there aren't many of those available yet. So, for now, I aim to raise Grace's handling game and keep my momentum up!
