A friend from Australia's 4cyl dirt car - WOW!
I've been communicating with a fellow in Australia for the last few years here at the shop. He races a Focus, and of course there are alot of similarities to our cars, so we've done a tidy bit of business over that time.
He races at Maryborough Speedway in Maryborough, Queensland, a roughly 1/4 mile clay/granite oval.
He races in the Modified Division of the 4 Cylinder class. They allow damn near everything which must make for some FAST racing.
The workmanship and level of work to Paul's car is astounding. Nearly a tube chassis vehicle.
Relocated radiator
Look at the through the firewall cage

And even though the steering wheel is on the wrong side, they still turn left!!!
Damn, thats pretty sweet. What all does he have done to it?
Well, as evidence by the Cosworth intake mani, it's not "stock" that's for sure. I know what he has in it, but I dont exactly want to let it out all over the web. Suffice it to say, it's FAST. He is second in points right now.
That interior is sweet. I love the fake headlights.
Those tires look fuckin NUTS too. In general that car is HOOOOOKED UP
the intake jumped out at me i was like oh shit. that for sho is one nice looking ride.
That is a nicely built car..
If you'd like to seem some amazing racing they do on a circle track in Australia and New Zeeland, check this out :
Car is fuckin BAD TO THE BONE.
man you guys are really making me want to race next year
Hi all in the US, Thanks for the great comments on my Focus, We are currently doing some more upgrades to the engine, Karl has some Oversized Supertec pistons on the way for me, looking forward to firing it up again soon. Should produce some 200+ fw horspower with the new mods. Cheers Paul
nice build! i love watching v8 supercars!! i wish the us was more into road racing, but oh well. congrats on your title
Glad to see you on the boards, Paul!!!
Thanks for your comments guys, yes Hustler we love watching the nascar coverage from the US but I must admit the v8 Surercars are somthing special to watch, I hope you were able to catch the telecast of the Gold Coast 600 last weekend, the Supercar guys tore up a lot of gear that weekend. My son Hamish races a formula ford here so we get to go to some of the tracks were the V8 Supercars race they are great events.
the last televised one was the 1000km race at the mountain track. i forget the name of it. as far as i know anyways
That would be Bathurst, the biggest event on the V8 Supercar calender.Definatly a weekend on the couch in front of the plasma with a few cold ones.
Hey Guys, I am finding it hard to buy any decent front struts here, I hope someone can advise what brands you have available in the US that would be suitable for oval dirt track. I also need to check that the fitment is the same between the AUST and US models, I have seen some pictres of kyb ajustables and they look like they are simular, The one thing I would like to check is the diameter of the lower section of the strut that clamps into the stub axel. Could someone that has a focus please measure this for me? Mine measures 52mm.I have a 2007 model Focus but the struts I have seen for your earlier models look simular, help would be appreciated
