$50 to win a feature doesn't really excite me all that much at all.  Now that a few of you are on here, lets talk about how we can change that.

Honestly, the track could be paying out a bit more...  Think:

20 car field (for the F4 class)

$25 per person, average of 3 people per car in staff

thats $1500 per night

They pay out, what, $300-400 to racers?  If that.  I know there are substantial costs associated with running the track, and I know they aren't using a push broom to sweep up dough at the end of the night though...

I'm sure insurance for the whole thing is a 6 figure proposition....

So lets leave the track alone for now.

I propose we manage our own secondary payout.  I think this would REALLY add a whole new element of competition as well...

Imagine a $10 per car "side action". Even if only half of the field paticipated, bringing home $150-200 would be DAMN NICE, while not breaking the bank for those who weren't victorious either...

A big question arises as to who manages or holds the money of course.  I doubt the track would want/condone it...

GREAT IDEA!!!

Wilmont SUX as far as payout and I think you have a great idea. We are all big boys ( well most of us). I think we could have a sign in sheet and if you pay your in. I really think were all a bunch of good guys and im not worried about letting any of the racers that were there last year hold onto my $10.

Let me know where to drop my 10, Im in!!!

See, now this is how I expected a racing forum to be. I personally think this is an awesome idea. (gives a reason to run a little harder each nite. Mybe we should have our own little party to discuss this further. Wilmot should be having a test and tune day at the beginning of the season, so we should get together and discuss this with all the drivers. And the 42 team, great team and a bunch of hiarious guys. Cant wait to race with all you guys again!!!

Me too.  We just started the forum like a month ago, so we are really the first peeps to be posting, so hang in there!  Should be ALOT of fun once the racing has started!!!

Anyways, yeah, we can def do that.

Speaking of test and tune - man, wouldnt it be nice to have a few more than ONE day of it???  A few times per season would allow an opportunity to really tweak and see whats working instead of changing ten things and then jumping straight into the heat races.

Not to mention hone the driving a little!!!

It would be nice, but I usually run practice at other tracks, so when I come to wilmot all the bugs are worked out, then the fine tuning comes into play. If you are running a honda next year, I can hook it up with parts n shit if you want   :)

Huh.  I never thought of that.

Good thinking!!!  Closest dirt would be Sycamore I guess?  But I suppose practice could certainly be done on pavement too...  Jefferson?  Rockford?

When the hillbillies invited us to the track they gave us a payout schedule based on entries. At 20 entries they were going to pay $100 or $125.

At that point we'd be talkin a whole lot more about the cheatin.

Well the payout did suck this year, but like Steve said at the banquet, he's going to try to up it next year. Wilmot was bought out and this was the first year of the new management, and I'm sure it had substancial costs just to run it this year. It wouldn't surprise me if the payouts do get a little better, but I'm not expecting much of anything. I mean, last year they had a scoreboard, this year there was none. From what I heard over the year they were in a dispute about that, that it should have come with the track, etc etc etc.

As for the $10 per race for a side wager, I like the idea, even though I know I'll quite possibly be losing it weekly. But, it's all in good fun. Gives me more reason to run harder next year, as if I didn't have enough reasons already.

Brian, don't think I forgot I still owe you money! Just trying to get it together right now then I'll be givin' you a ring. How's the garage coming along?

Don't worry bout the $$. When ever you get around to giving it to me will be fine. If your ever in the area do not hesitate to stop by and shoot the shit. Hope all is well!!

I'll have to remember where the area is so I can be around it grin

I'm aiming for soon though, I always feel guilty owing people money, it's one of my biggest pet peeves! You're off of 12th street right? I can find it from there if that's the right street.

Hey Karl.....maybe you should host a little get together at your shop. Maybe on a friday nite or saturday sometime, just an idea

they are really trying to give more money back to the drivers, and as said before last season was the rebuilding season. The track attendence and car counts have gone up emencly.
This coming up season is going to have many more nights to run, and they are looking at having 3 weekends before the season starts for "test n tune".
The scoreboard was stolen...and they are probably going to have one this season because of many complaints.
The guys running the track were new to the whole thing and just were trying to work out bugs. This season should be much more successful.
2 seasons ago with payout if you got under 3rd...you got 10$.
One way to garrentee more money is to get more drivers in the 4cyl. class.
I know the street stocks had about 30-40 cars a night and got $40 for coming in last in the feature.
Hopefully it will get better, if not we would have to get together as a group and take to the guy who runs the track.

Yeah, I agree.  We've had (besides out huge summer time "Cruise Jam" event in it's fifth year, had a few smaller little get-together's and BBQ's.

Maybe one is a bit over due!!!
